Legacy Animal Hospital is a small animal clinic providing both medical and surgical services with a personal touch. We have a diagnostic laboratory, surgery suite, and on-site radiology department. We provide a full range of options to aid in a complete diagnostic work-up to evaluate your pet's medical needs. When necessary, we will refer cases needing more specialized care to specialty practices in the Las Vegas area. Dr. Muratore and his clinical staff are well trained and experienced. We make a conscientious effort to provide continuing education both on and off-site to all our staff to keep us on the cutting edge of medicine and service. During our surgeries we monitor blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, EKG, and body temperature with a body system monitoring machine. We record and print a record of the patient’s stats while under anesthesia. All surgery patients receive either IV fluids or SC fluids during the procedure as well as pain management control.
Your pet depends on your protection in many ways. The common things they need are shelter, food, water, exercise and love. However, diseases spread by other animals are an ever-present threat to the health of your pet. Vaccines to protect your dog from diseases such as rabies, distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, leptospirosis and kennel cough are an important protection for your dog. Vaccines are important for both inside and outside cats to protect them against rabies, feline leukemia, calicivirus, chlamydia and panleukopenia which are transmitted by saliva, mucus and other secretions of acutely ill cats.
MICROCHIP YOUR PET
Every day a beloved family pet is lost. Tragically, most never make it back home because their owners didn't identify them. The MicroChip is the professional way to identify your pet and is proven safe and effective. In addition to microchipping your pet, we also register your pet's microchip at no additional cost. A small chip, the size of a rice grain, is injected under the skin of your pet. The procedure is very safe, very similar to getting a vaccination. The chip is encoded with a unique I.D. number that is registered to you. If your pet ever gets lost and is brought to an animal shelter or clinic, they are scanned to see if they have a microchip.
We emphasize preventive care whenever possible to ensure a happy, healthy and long life for your pet. We offer physical examination, vaccinations, heartworm and parasite prevention, geriatric health care programs for older pets, dentistry, and dietary and nutritional counseling services. We recommend bi-annual wellness exams for your companions. We work with you to design a personalized vaccine and health care plan for your pet to provide the best care possible from their first visit as a puppy or kitten through their senior years. At Legacy Animal Hospital, we are committed to ensuring that your pet's pain is kept to a minimum. We offer pain management treatments that include pain patches, both injectible and oral pain medications, and CRI (Constant Rate Infusion) during post operative recovery. Our veterinary doctors and staff will treat your pet with the same care and compassion as if your pet were their own pet.
NEW PUPPY & KITTEN VISITS
Our puppy and kitten wellness programs are designed to offer your new pet all the benefits of our comprehensive veterinary services. We recommend starting your new puppy or kitten on our wellness program from 6 weeks to 16 weeks of age. Included in our pet wellness packages are a series of examinations performed by our veterinarians to ensure your puppy or kitten is developing at a normal and healthy rate. Our veterinarians will begin a series of vaccinations including rabies, distemper, parvo virus, and parasite prevention. Legacy Animal Hospital is built on providing the best care possible with the kindest attitude. We bring modern medicine to you and your pet with a gentle touch. We want to provide you with a warm, comfortable atmosphere so during stressful times when your pet is ill, you know you are in place you can trust and feel at home.
Pet obesity is a rising problem in the veterinary medicine field, it contributes to a large number of diseases as well as discomfort for our beloved pets. Keeping your pet active and on a well-balanced diet is an important factor in our wellness care. We understand it can be difficult for daily exercise with your pet. We also understand that some pets, and in particular senior pets, may find physical activity challenging due to arthritis or other common aging issues. Whether your pet is fighting a weight problem or requires a special diet in conjunction with health care management and treatment, our Staff will counsel you on the many nutritional options that are available to pet owners. Allow us to educate you or give you a recommendation about the proper food for your pet. Good quality food can be tailored for the type of pet you have to prevent and/or manage health issues that are common among that breed. Remember to always provide lots of fresh, clean water at all times.
In the early stages, some of your senior pet’s problems may not be obvious and the gradual onset of health problems, in an apparently healthy pet, often goes unnoticed. Diagnostic tests such as a complete blood panel, complete blood count, thyroid levels, urinalysis, thoracic and abdominal radiographs or ultrasound are important means to evaluate your pet’s health.
COLD LASER THERAPY
Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and is thought to help accelerate the healing process. It can be used on patients who suffer from a variety of acute and chronic conditions in order to help eliminate pain, swelling, reduce spasms and increase functionality. Cold lasers are handheld devices used by the clinician and are often the size of a flashlight. The laser is placed directly over the injured area for 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated and the dose provided by the cold laser unit. During this time, the non-thermal photons of light that are emitted from the laser pass through the skins layers. When cells absorb this light energy, it initiates a series of events in the cell that result in normalizing damaged or injured tissue, a reduction in pain, inflammation, edema and an overall reduction in healing time by increasing intracellular metabolism.
